Introducing Campbell River School District’s 2026 Exchange Programs

We’re excited to announce two incredible opportunities for Campbell River’s SD72 high school students to explore the world through our 2026 international exchange programs. These exchanges offer a chance for students to immerse in a new culture, build lifelong friendships, and return home with global perspectives that last a lifetime. Students gain confidence, adaptability, and intercultural understanding, while families open their doors to a cultural exchange right here in Campbell River.

Japan–Canada Short-Term Exchange Program 

This special program is built on the sister city connection between Ishikari City (Japan) and Campbell River.

Overview: Students host a Japanese student in May, then travel to Ishikari for two weeks at the end of June.
 

Timeline: 

• Japanese students in Campbell River: May 16–30, 2026
• Campbell River students in Ishikari: June 28–July 11, 2026
   
   

Cost Estimate: Approx. $5000 CAD (includes airfare, insurance, visas, etc.).  Flights determine this cost and we will continue to look for less expensive flight options for this trip.  Deadline to Apply: November 12, 2025

French Language Exchange

Upcoming Exchange Information Sessions 

Wednesday, October 1 – Virtual Info Session (5:30 PM PST)
 Join us online for a general introduction to our upcoming exchange programs in Japan and France. This session will cover how the exchanges work, participation expectations, and important application deadlines. Perfect for students and parents curious to learn more.

Tuesday, October 28 – In-Person Session (5:30 PM, SD72 School Board Office)
 This session is for Campbell River students and families who are considering applying. We’ll provide detailed information, answer questions, and share next steps for those ready to take part in an exchange this year.

Begin A Global Adventure 

Campbell River School District International Student Programs is excited to partner with organizations abroad to offer Campbell River high school students an opportunity to live and study in another country. These exchange opportunities are open to all high school students in Campbell River. Exchange participants must be 14 years old by the time of the exchange.
